The New Black Cultural Diet Team is sponsoring its 2 nd Annual Weight Loss Challenge
for African Americans and all those who share similar lifestyles. This weight loss
challenge is a three month contest beginning April 2 nd and ending July 2 nd in which
participants are only asked to document their progress in losing weight through journal
writing, blogging, and following the four major components of the New Black Cultural
Diet ® (NBCD).
The four components of the New Black Cultural Diet ® are: (1) body image, (2) food selection, (3) food preparation and (4) exercise. Participants are asked to assess and improve themselves in each of the four components throughout the weight loss challenge period. Each week for 3 months, participants will submit their written journals to the New Black Cultural Diet Team. All journal entries should emphasize the New Black Cultural Diet themes which are positivity, healthier, and holistic. The Grand Prize Winner will be determined by (1) total weight loss & body image change; (2) healthier food selections; (3) healthier food preparation, (4) regular exercise regimen; and (5) changed perception of participant’s total lifestyle in the four components of the NBCD ® . The Grand Prize Winner will receive a New Black Cultural Diet ® Fitness Exercise Package, signed copies of Dr. Eric Bailey’s two recent books (Food Choice & Obesity in Black America: Creating a New Cultural Diet and Black America, Body Beautiful: How the African American Image is Changing Fashion, Fitness, and Other Industries), and become the honorary spokesperson for the New Black Cultural Diet ® program for the next 3 months.
